Awareness Activities under “Swachhata Hi Sewa” Campaign
Kalka, October 1, 2025:
Smt. Aruna Asaf Ali Government College, Kalka, organized awareness activities under the “Swachhata Hi Sewa” campaign through a joint initiative of the Eco Club, Nature Interpretation Club, and NCC Unit. The program included a lecture on “Plastic Waste Management” and a demonstration of recycled products made from single-use plastic.
The resource person, Ms. Garima, CSR Executive from Bisleri International Ltd., interacted with the students under the company’s “Bottles for Change” program. She explained the seven categories of recyclable plastics, the segregation of dry and wet waste, and their collection in blue and green dustbins. She also conducted an engaging activity on plastic waste collection to promote practical learning.
The event was held under the able guidance of Principal, Dr. Geeta Sukhija, Dr. Gurpreet Kaur (Deputy Convener, Eco Club, Convener Nature Interpretation Club and Convener, NCC Unit). Active contributions were made by Eco Club members Dr. Neeru Sharma, Dr. Indu, Dr. Sarita, Dr. Ashish, Ms. Navneet Nancy, Ms. Archana Soni, and Dr. Chetna.
With the participation of 60 students, the event proved highly motivating, encouraging students to contribute towards plastic waste management and sustainable practices for a cleaner environment.
